Event Title: George Grosman and Swing Boutique
Event Story: Come enjoy the international flair of George Grosman and the Swing Boutique on Sunday afternoon, September 9 on the Space Coast Jazz Society stage at the Rockledge Country Club. Born in Prague, George, guitar player and vocalist, has spent the last four decades living and playing music in North America, Europe and Asia and has lived in six different countries --- Canada, the US, the Czech Republic, Israel, the UK and Iceland. He studied at the Guildhall School of Music in London and also has a Master’s degree from the University of Essex. He brings these experiences to his performances but mostly describes his music as “jazz with a French flavor.” He loves harmony, beautiful melodies and the romance of the French style of jazz. In late 2011, sponsored by the late great jazz guitar legend, Larry Coryell, George relocated to the US from Canada and became active in the Central Florida music scene. He has worked as a solo artist for Disney, has several CDs, works with various recording studios, and travels to Canada where he performs with his six piece band, Bohemian Swing --- most recently at the 2017 Toronto Jazz Festival. He is also a composer, song writer, producer and teacher. In summer of 2016 George brought together some of his favorite musicians from Central Florida to organize Swing Boutique, a band specializing in what can best be described as “Continental Jazz” – anything from Django Reinhardt to Edith Piaf to musette waltzes. In addition to George on rhythm guitar and vocals, the band includes John Keith on accordion, Bo Frazer on fiddle and mandolin, Phil Coe on lead guitar, and Nick Rosaci on upright bass. Jon and Bo will also provide back-up vocal support. According to George the Jazz Society concert will include a “mixture of romantic and toe-tapping music with a bit of continental mystery, like a song I wrote called Paris in the Rain which may make you feel like you are walking in Montmartre.” Don’t miss this lively afternoon of jazz with an international flair and a few dance tunes as well. Space Coast Jazz Society concerts are open to the public and general admission is paid at the door: $10 for members of the Society or the Rockledge Country Club, $15 for non-members and guests, and no charge for students. Food and beverages are available at an additional cost. The Rockledge Country Club is located at 1591 S. Fiske Blvd., Rockledge, FL 32955. For more information, call (321) 960-4897, email Jazz@SpaceCoastJazzSociety.org or go to www.SpaceCoastJazzSociety.org. You can also join this unique and fun organization at the concert or through the website.
