Event Title: Groovestock-celebrating the 50th anniversary of Woodstock!
Event Story: Groovestock-celebrating the 50th anniversary of the music festival in Woodstock New York where it all started.Woodstock was billed as “an Aquarian Exposition; 3 days of Peace and Music.” It had a tremendous impact on music and culture both at the time and continuing through today. At the time it was the largest music festival that had ever occurred. It was documented in an Academy Award winning documentary and a triple LP that stayed at #1 in the charts for months. There were many more musicians who did not make it onto the original film or LP- Creedence Clearwater, Blood, Sweat and Tears, the Band, the Grateful Dead and many others. There is lots of documentation though about who played, what they played, how much they got payed etc. as well as who was asked to play and didn’t for whatever reason. For Groovestock, musicians can play any song that was played at Woodstock. They don’t have to do it like it was done originally, they can do it in their own style but it had to be done performed at the original festival. We were worried that we wouldn’t have enough musicians because most everyone we know has a gig on a Saturday night. HairPeace and Minglewood will be closing the show. It was also decided that something this big would have to be held outdoors. The stage will be in the area just west of Pareidolia Brew Pub located on Cleveland St. in Sebastian. For this event folks are encouraged to bring chairs. Pareidolia will be having food and beverage specials. The music starts at 5pm on Saturday, August 17th. Here is the listing of who will be performing, what songs they are going to do and the artist who did played it at Woodstock. Robert Johnson, host of Pareidolia Open Mic will also be acting as MC for the event.
