Event Title: Corey Paul CORTET
Event Story: The Corey Paul Cortet represents the twenty-something generation of jazz musicians. You will enjoy their fresh, distinct sound and support this generation of jazz professionals that has emerged from Central Florida’s live music scene. Trombonist Corey Paul performs with The Dr. Phillips Center Jazz Orchestra, the Orlando Jazz Orchestra and at Disney parks and venues. His band includes Gregory Zabel on bass, plus brothers Ethan Bailey-Gould on guitar and Ashton Bailey-Gould on drums. Paul, originally from Brevard County, is a graduate of the University of Central Florida (UCF) with a focus on jazz performance. Gregory Zabel is also a graduate of UCF, plays with the Orlando Jazz Orchestra and is an alumnus of the Glenn Miller Orchestra. The Bailey-Gould brothers perform together and on their own as freelance musicians. Ashton Bailey-Gould currently attends Eastern Florida College. Guitarist Ethan recently returned from his inaugural tour of Europe with Carnegie Hall’s National Youth Orchestra Jazz, led by the world renowned trumpeter, bandleader and composer Sean Jones. Jazz aficionados may have enjoyed these musicians at several venues throughout Central Florida including Heidi’s Jazz Club, the Henegar Center and the Blue Bamboo Center for the Arts in Orlando. The Cortet has played together at the Blue Bamboo, for the SCJS and elsewhere. According to Paul, “It’s great to be able to make music with other young people who appreciate jazz, America’s original art form.” He promises that the June concert will be diverse and include straight up jazz (an amalgam of different jazz styles), hard bob, bebop, cool jazz and renditions from the American Song Book. The band also intends to incorporate a Latin vibe in some tunes and include vocals by Corey Paul. OPEN TO THE PUBLIC – general admission tickets can be purchased online below or paid at the door: – $10 for members of the Jazz Society and Rockledge Country Club, – $15 for guests, – Students are free. Food and beverages are available for an additional cost. The Rockledge Country Club is located at 1591 S. Fiske Blvd., Rockledge, FL 32955.
